Russell's Sports Collection - Collecting cards and memorabilia from the 1900's

Willie Mays first got me interested in baseball and like many kids I put his, Mickey's, Hank's and other cards on my bike spokes. It sounded cool but cost me thousands of dollars. As a boy, my parents took me on vacations to baseball parks. They're some of my fondest memories of my father now passed. 

I attended hundreds of Class A games in my youth and saw many exceptional players later become big league stars and beginning in the late 1970's did radio play-by-play and color commentary broadcasts for the Class A Lynchburg Mets with Strawberry, Backman, Gooden and others. I lived in Boca Raton, Florida in '80's-'90s and became a Marlins fan.

NOTES: I attended and played baseball and basketball at Oak Hill Academy in 1970-71. Memorable sports moment:  attending the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics and seeing and experiencing the USA vs. USSR hockey game
